Purpose: Confirm that outcome-based programs effectively and significantly change the lives of the people served. Team Description: A Program Review Team consists of three to four volunteers. Each Team reviews three to five outcome-based programs; the Team leader reports to the Program Review Committee. Responsibilities Attend volunteer training Be active and prepared for discussions, deliberations and team decisions Schedule and participate in “Familiarization Tours” and meetings with agencies Maintain familiarity/relationship with assigned programs and administrators Utilize appropriate checklists and follow established procedures Analyze program logic models, proposals and performance Identify program strengths, problems, or weaknesses, if any Assist the agency in understanding program design weaknesses Refrain from advising agencies how to “fix” their programs
Expectations Represent United Way donors and the community at-large Be objective and open-minded Be diplomatic (not heavy handed) Willing to meet the time commitment Commit to open communication and consensus decision-making Have internet access Time Commitment We ask that you serve a three-year term (non-binding commitment). On average, service requires about four hours per month, over a two-three month period. Meetings occur during normal working hours. Conflict of Interest If a volunteer is not certain whether a conflict exists with an agency or program, the volunteer should declare the issue and ask team/committee members to decide.
