Volunteer Opportunity Details:

WE NEED YOU! We are seeking 30 volunteers city-wide to assist in this project.
On October 22, volunteers from the Home Depot and Housing and Community Services, Inc. will join forces to build a state-of-the-art new KaBOOM! playground in just one day at the Guild Park Apartments. The playground will provide a great place to play for the children of the Guild Park Apartments and surrounding community. Construction work will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. with a ‘board-cutting’ ceremony, in lieu of the traditional ribbon cutting, to commemorate completion of the colorful new playground. The playground’s design is based on drawings by children from the Guild Park Apartments who attended a Design Day in August 2009. At Design Day, the children had the opportunity to draw their dream playgrounds and share ideas with organizers for the new playspace.

This project is part of the Home Depot’s $25 million commitment to KaBOOM! to create and refurbish 1,000 playspaces in 1,000 days. KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. As a founding partner of KaBOOM! the Home Depot provides financial support, materials and numerous volunteers for playspace projects across North America as part of its ongoing commitment to give back to the communities its stores serve.
