The Benefits Counseling program provides information, counseling and advocacy to senior citizens, and Medicare beneficiaries of any age, on their public benefits, entitlements, and legal rights. Benefits Counselors also provide public education on a variety of topics impacting seniors. Certified Benefits Counselors consult on topics such as: Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Advance Directives, Long-Term Care, Non-Covered Health, Other Insurance, veterans Issues, Social Security, Senior Fraud/Scams, and Medicare and Medicaid Appeals/Hearings.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and protect their privacy and confidentiality. Certified Benefits Counselors provide training at the volunteer's own pace which consists of 25 hours group and individual classes and 20 hours of shadowing. Volunteers are asked to remain with the agency for at least one (1) year after certification. Continued informational training is also provided. Directions:
 Take Loop 410 and exit at Nacogdoches Road. If coming 410 East take turnaround and stay on access road or if coming 410 West stay on access road. Turn right onto Tesoro Drive. If you come to a stoplight at Broadway street, you have gone too far. There are two large identical multi-window buildings in frount and to the right of you. The building on the left (NOT "Petroleum") houses the AACOG offices. Hint: the name is on the frount of the building. Enter the main glass doors in the front of the building, take the elevator to the 7th floor to the reception desk. Hint: farther up the street are the Taco Cabana and NEISD buildings.
