Volunteer Ombudsman are advocates for the elderly living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Over 60% of these residents have no visitors or living relatives. As a volunteer Ombudsman you visit residents and look into concerns on their behalf regarding their quality of care. A minimum of 2 hours a week visiting an assigned facility is all we ask. A specialized training program certified by the Texas Department on Aging is required. This will encompass 36 hours of training which is scheduled at your convenience. In addition, we also require twelve hours of continuing education per year. The training program is certified by the Texas Department of Aging and disability Services.
