This volunteer opportunity is a favorite among for all volunteers who shop for NESA seniors who, through no fault of their own, need someone to shop for their groceries on a weekly or monthly basis.

Volunteers call the assigned client for a list and shop accordingly; they deliver the groceries to the client in their homes and may put away the groceries for the client.

Shoppers are assigned to clients on a one-to-one relationship. Clients continually praise their shoppers and feel they are a part of their family. If you are looking for a volunteer experience that is truly rewarding, appreciated, and satisfying, this is the job for you.

Volunteer shoppers provide their own transportation and ARE reimbursed for mileage. Volunteer shoppers ARE reimbursed by check by the client for the groceries purchased.

Volunteers are invited to participate in social events with other volunteers and the NESA staff. This is your opportunity to make a significant difference in the life of a homebound elderly person in northeast San Antonio. These are the people who helped make San Antonio such a wonderful place to live. They gave to the community, and it is our privilege to give back to them. Join us today. Call at 967-6372.

Volunteer shoppers must be willing to attend a one-on-one interview with the Volunteer Coordinator at the NESA Office and submit to a background check. Training consists of a training film and written instruction. New volunteers are given the opportunity to shop with an experienced shopper if they prefer.
