The Child Support Office at 852 W. Rhapsody is in need of several volunteer assistants. This office handles child support orders/cases from the Bexar County Courthouse. All of these cases are non-welfare; but if the parent accepts welfare in the future, we can transfer the case to one of the four community based offices serving the county and his/her zip code. Our attorneys go to court weekly, so case preparation for court dockets goes on continually. Most of our work is done on the computer; much of it is administrative (meaning we don't have to obtain new court orders). If you want to update your office and/or computer skills, learn about child support, fulfill a course requirement, or just give something back to the children of this community, this is the place for you to volunteer. We can place three volunteers immediately. Volunteers could be assigned to filing, making case folders, pulling cases for officers and attorneys, interviewing customers to obtain required information, assisting legal team to prepare cases for court, attending to the docket and service papers file, mailing court notices, faxing, and a variety of other office tasks. Assignments depend upon the volunteer's skill/ability and office needs. Volunteers must be age 16 or over. All volunteers will undergo a criminal background check (minors must have parent's signature). Volunteers are required to take several on-line training sessions, taking 30 to 40 minutes for each session. Content training is handled as OJT (on the job). This opportunity is sponsored by: Texas Attorney General
