Stewardship Review and Program Review Volunteers
As you know, United Way is a volunteer driven organization. We rely heavily on volunteers to maintain our accountability to donors and the community. We are currently recruiting volunteers to serve in one of two accountability processes, Stewardship Review or Program Review.
In Stewardship Review, teams of volunteers assess the soundness of United Way-affiliated agencies by verifying they meet four of United Way's Affiliation Standards:
1. Board Governance
2. Financial Accountability
3. Administrative Efficiency
4. Non-United Way Resource Development
Each team is led by a chair and co-chair and assisted by a United Way staff person. It only requires a time commitment of about seven hours over a two month period.
Our second evaluation process is Program Review. It determines whether a United Way funded program significantly changes a clients' life. It involves
· Agency visits to become familiar with programs
· Evaluating on-line information provided by agencies
· An average time requirement of eight hours over two months
Volunteer teams express their confidence level in the programs and determine whether they merit continued United Way support.
