Volunteer Opportunity Details:

We have discovered that the most important influence in the life of a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning youth is to have an adult role model that they can look up to, learn from, and who can make them feel that they are perfectly okay, just they way that they are. Our youth center is staffed by facilitators/mentors who provide just such a service to our youth. Each facilitator/mentor takes a shift of 2 1/2 hours at the center and is available to the youth that come in. Some volunteer on a weekly basis, others come in once or twice a month, as their schedule permits. We have 24 openings per week that we need to fill and so we are always looking for dedicated, reliable, and enthusiastic adults (gay or straight)to fill this urgent need. All volunteers must pass a criminal check. Keeping our youth safe is vital, and all adults that come on to the property are checked when youth are there. You must be 24 years old and up to apply. The exception to this are college students who are looking to fulfill service learning requirements.
