Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on August 10, 2009 |
Help Spokane families in need at Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season by volunteering at Second Harvest’s annual Tom’s Turkey Drive. Volunteers will be stationed at local Rosauers stores to collect donations on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21. Two hour shifts are available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. To make it easy for people to donate, Rosauers will be selling all of the fixings for a holiday meal (including a turkey) in pre-packed bags. Other food and financial donations will be accepted as well. Second Harvest plans to collect thousands of Thanksgiving meals for distribution to Spokane families the following week. Second Harvest appreciates both Rosauers and media sponsor KREM 2 for supporting this drive. KREM 2’s popular weather anchor, Tom Sherry, is the drive’s namesake. To sign up to volunteer, visit 2-harvest.org and click on “Volunteer Your Time” or contact Julie Nesbitt, manager of volunteer resources, at (509) 252-6242 or jnesbitt@2-harvest.org Volunteers should dress warmly as they will be outside in inclement weather. All volunteers under age 14 must have adult supervision. This opportunity is sponsored by: Second Harvest Inland Northwest

Overall Experience

Very Satisfying Experience
 |
Positive experience directly helping folks on need. This was my first volunteer effort. Was a bit surprised that there was no "Thank You" or recognition from the organization at all for my small effort but then I remembered that so many of the people I helped distribute the food to said those words over and over. That is what made the experience so great. posted on September 2, 2005 |

Overall Experience

I would recommend SHFB volunteer activities to anyone.

Served as Secretary/Treasurer and on Personnel and Finance Committee. Participated in food drives and client surveys. Helped me understand budget processes better. Developed relationships with staff and other volunteers. All in all, it was a great experience!!! posted by ejubon on January 17, 2005 |
