Texas After Violence Project
The mission of the Texas After Violence Project is to listen empathetically, carefully, and without judgment to people directly touched by serious violence, the criminal justice system, incarceration, and executions in Texas; to share our findings widely, to the extent and in the manner consistent with individual interview narrators' express permission; and to promote collective, critical, and constructive conversations about effective ways to prevent and respond to violence. We work toward a more just and less violent Texas: a society that recognizes and affirms the dignity and value of every human being.
Description:
The Texas After Violence Project is an independent, non-profit organization that seeks to understand the effects of serious violence, including murder and the death penalty in Texas, through qualitative research, especially by listening to the first-person narratives of lived experience of people directly affected by these events and processes. We listen empathetically and without judgment to family members and loved ones of murder victims and executed persons. We also listen to law enforcement officials, clergy, media witnesses to executions, and others. Please see more detailed information about the Texas After Violence Project at our website, http://www.texasafterviolence.org
