The Friends of Copperfield Nature Trails is dedicated to improving the Greenbelts and Parks along Walnut Creek in northeast Austin. Our project area is a 59 acre undeveloped greenbelt reserve that features native grasslands, woodlands, 3 large ponds, an extensive limestone basin, and tributaries that feed into Walnut Creek.

Description:
We are a Keep Austin Beautiful Adopt-a-Creek Partner and hold litter cleanups several times a year. We also work with City of Austin Parks Department and Austin Parks Foundation to develop and improve the trails in the greenbelt.

History:
Our grassroots neighborhood effort started in May, 2006 with 3 neighbors. Since forming, we have held over 10 litter cleanups to remove litter and bulky item from the greenbelt. In June 2007, we completed the program requirements and became the first Green Neighborhood in Austin. http://www.cityofaustin.org/watershed/greenneighbor/

In 2007, received an Austin Parks Foundation grant to improve the Blakeney entrance to the greenbelt and have removed the invasive honeysuckle, extended the sidewalk, and installed a park bench.
