CAPS provides Parkinson's disease support, education, professional speakers, a monthly Newsletter and Outreach Groups. Our mission is to bring family, partners & friends together to learn how to manage Parkinson's disease and share information.
Description:
CAPS meets monthly at Seton Hospital on West 38th Street, in the McFadden Auditorium. Meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 2-4PM. Our office is located at the Parsons House Retirement Living Center, 1130 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78752.
History:
This non-profit group was formed in 1984 and has grown to over 350 members. The monthly meetings and Outreach Groups provide needed support and education for those in Central Texas by giving valuable information. We offer mentoring of students, and some students may also receive academic credit hours for their University courses. Student volunteers can help with Music Therapy, Physical Therapy, Newsletters, Office/clerical support and events. We are willing to create other options for students or mentoring plans where their professors may have an interest. Additional information is available on our website. Please contact us via email at volunteer@capitalareaparkinsons.org.
