Relief Nursery Of Central Texas
The mission of the Relief Nursery of Central Texas is to strengthen families while keeping children safe. We are a new child abuse prevention program for families with children under age six. A wide array of support services are provided; always with respect for the diversity of the families we serve.
Description:
The Relief Nursery of Central Texas offers several support services to families that are experiencing high levels of stress. Research-based principles are embedded throughout our services while recognizing the changing needs of families. Our Therapeutic Early Childhood Classroom provides high quality child care that focuses on all areas of child development and promotes social and emotional growth. Our teachers provide home visits to the family to continue the child's learning in the home environment, teach parenting skills and offer additional support and resources. We also offer Outreach services that provide crisis support, community referrals and resources, respite care and home visiting. In the coming months, we will also offer substance abuse recovery support and mental health services.
History:
The Relief Nursery of Central Texas is a new, non-profit agency in Austin. The original "Relief Nursery" program was started in Eugene, Oregon over 30 years ago in order to address the growing problem of child abuse in their community. Because of the success of that program, recently, the state of Texas decided to replicate this exciting and successful program in Austin and Plano.
