Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions (formerly Lago Vista PAWS) is an independently-owned, no-kill shelter dedicated to preventing animal suffering, rescuing and
caring for stray and abandoned dogs and cats and finding good homes for these animals, educating the
public about responsible pet ownership, and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their animals.

Description:
Lifelong Friends needs volunteers to care for our cats and dogs. We provide care for our shelter animals twice a day, seven days a week. Cat caregivers must be at least 13 years old, and dog caregivers must be at least 16. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Other volunteer opportunities include fostering, helping with adoptions, working on fundraisers, soliciting donations, writing grants, marketing, making follow-up calls to adopters, maintaining the database, answering phones, recording information and filing, giving vaccines, bookkeeping, transporting animals to/from the vet, and taking photographs of the animals.

History:
In 1997, a few committed people in a small Texas town in western Travis County took action, impassioned by their belief that all animals deserve care, respect, and a life free from fear, hunger, and pain. The dream for a true no-kill sanctuary for lost, abandoned, and rejected pets became a reality when these dedicated individuals built Lago Vista PAWS Animal Center. In 2007, for our tenth anniversary, we changed our name to Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions to better reflect who we are and what we do.

Through our small shelter, thousands of animals have found loving, forever homes. Others have found permanent safe haven at our shelter. More dogs and cats come every day, many of them sick or injured. We are very different from most shelters, even those that call themselves “no-kill.” Many of those facilities find ways around the no-kill philosophical mandate. To us, every life is a precious gift, and we do everything we can to save the animals that come to our facility.
