The Arthritis Walk, the national signature event of the Arthritis Foundation, celebrates those battling arthritis while simultaneously raising money to support its dedication to the eradication of this disease. The funds raised through the Arthritis Walk directly support arthritis research, community programs and services and advocacy initiatives that help improve the lives of people with arthritis.

The Arthritis Walk is a community event in its truest sense. Teams of people from schools, churches, neighborhoods, civic groups and businesses come together to show support for those who battle this disease. Arthritis Walk events are held all over the United States and are the fastest growing walk events in the country. But the Arthritis Walk is more than just an event . . . it creates a sense of community that one can see and feel. It is like the world’s largest support group.

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the nation, which includes over 300,000 children affected with Juvenile Arthritis. Juvenile Arthritis is more prevalent than Juvenile Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis and Sickle Cell Anemia combined. It is estimated that the total cost of arthritis to the U.S. economy each year is $86.2 billion. With your help, the Arthritis Foundation can further its mission to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis, and your company can gain crucial brand visibility in one of the top ten media markets in the country. The Arthritis Walk is a nationwide non-competitive team-walking event that raises money to fund hundreds of programs and services that help people prevent and control arthritis, the nation’s number one cause of disability. Participants can walk in honor of a loved one with arthritis, while honorees with arthritis lead the way, wearing special blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition. Proceeds from this event will enable the foundation to fund vital research, foster greater awareness of arthritis, assist families affected by arthritis and bring urgency to the search for a cure.

History:
The Arthritis Foundation (AF) is a national organization, established in 1948. The Foundation is proudly the single largest, non-for-profit source of funding for arthritis research in the world, and the only national voluntary health agency that addresses all of the 100 forms of arthritis in adults and children. The organization serves all 50 states through a network of 150 chapters and branch offices.
