Great Hills Park Committee

The Great Hills Park Committee supports and improves Great Hills Park by providing improvements and maintenance which is outside the scope of services and enhancements the city is able to provide.

Description:
The Great Hills Park Committee is an entirely volunteer organization. The committee sponsors two major workdays per year and a number of community activities. In addition, volunteers work on our trails and other projects on a regular basis throughout the year. The park trails were entirely built by volunteers and are maintained by volunteers. Volunteers also tend landscaping and other improvements in the Playscape area of the park.

History:
The Great Hills Park committee was formed in 1993 to bring a park to the Great Hills area of Northwest Austin. This grassroots effort resulted in the creation of Great Hills Park which is a 60 acre City of Austin Park located above and in a beautiful Hill Country type canyon. The wonderful trails in the canyon have been built entirely by volunteers who continue to improve, maintain and expand them. All enhancements in the playscape area are also the result of volunteer efforts. The committee is currently involved in a project to raise funds to build a park pavilion at the playscape area.
