VSA arts of Texas is striving to create a society where people with and without disabilities can learn through, participate in, and enjoy the arts. Our organization is dedicated to the mission of promoting the creative power in people with disabilities by working with artists, patrons, and community members to facilitate full access to the cultural and educational arts.

Description:
VSA arts of Texas offers programs, events, and services based in four expansive core areas: arts in learning, cultural access, professional development, and public awareness and outreach. All programs are driven by
the following guiding principles:

-Every young person with a disability deserves access to appropriate arts learning experiences.
-All artists in schools and art educators should be
appropriately prepared to include students with disabilities in their instruction.
-All children, youth, and adults with disability should have complete access to community cultural facilities and activities.
-All individuals with disability who aspire to a career in the arts should have the opportunity to develop appropriate skills.

Recognized as a model inclusive arts organization, VSA arts of Texas continues to lead successful efforts at the intersection of multidisciplinary arts, inclusive education, and disability rights. Awards for local and statewide programs and services include: Award for School Collaboration, Ysleta Arts Alive, by VSA arts, 2004; Excellence in Culture & Arts, Follow the Dream, by National and Texas Parks and Recreation, 2005;
and, National Award for Excellence in Cultural Access & Inclusive Arts Programming, by VSA arts, 2005.

History:
VSA arts of Texas is a member of the international network of VSA arts, an affiliate of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. VSA arts and its constituents form an innovative network bringing exceptional arts and education programs reaching more than 2 million people with disabilities in all 50 states and in over 60 countries worldwide.
VSA arts was founded in 1974. VSA arts of Texas was founded in 1995.
