Catholic Charities Of Central Texas
Catholic Charities of Central Texas is a collaborative organization with programs that address the diverse needs of people, through the Church in Central Texas, and is accountable to the communities it serves, guided by principles which celebrate diversity and cherish the dignity and potential of every person. We provide programs and services which assist in the self-empowerment of individuals and families, working for systemic change toward a more just and caring society.
Description:
We provide the following services:
- Food Pantry - we currently provide food on Monday and Friday. Also we pick up food from Capitol Area food bank on Tuesday.
- Emergency Services and disaster response- We provide one time financial assistance to people. We also help people displaced by hurricane Katrina to get jobs, permanent housing etc.
- Immigrant Legal Services - We provide legal council to individuals and families that need it.
- Parish Social Ministry - We help people in a variety of ways.
- Senior Services - We help them in many ways. One of them is with regards to Medicare.
History:
Rooted in Catholic Social teachings the Diocese of Austin encouraged interested groups to develop various types of services. Catholic Charities of Central Texas was officially started in 1999. Our 1st ministry was the Parish Social Ministry.
