2 Way Travel specialises in providing short-term volunteer opportunities for groups who want to make a meaningful contribution towards meeting some of the many needs of South African society. You will experience more than just a beautiful place but also to engage in relationships with people thereby creating meaningful travel experiences. We promote interactions between foreigners and locals while showing the reality of life in South Africa. Groups that have come to South Africa include Villanova University, Pittsburgh University,Indian Weslyan University, Middlesex School, Ambassadors for Children and many more. Typically, groups spend 6 days volunteering at a Children's Home in the townships where they did a combination of light maintenance work as well as putting on a fun and stimulating activity programme for the children in between assisting with homework. In between their hard work, groups visit Robben Island (where former President Nelson Mandela spent 17 years), met local South Africans, enjoyed traditional meals, spent 2 nights on a homestay with a Xhosa family, hike up Table Mountain and much much more! Here is some of what past volunteers have had to say about their trip: ‘I’m leaving my heart behind in South Africa. It was an incredible experience and I wish it could last forever.’ ‘This trip was more rewarding that I ever imagined. I really feel that I am leaving South Africa with a completely new perspective. I also definitely plan on coming back, so keep your schedules open!!’ ‘This trip has been life changing in so many ways and I only wish I could stay longer! Thank you for all of your hard work, I will NEVER forget you or South Africa!!!’ ‘Projects were very well thought out and organised. The kids really responded to the stimulation.’
A willingness to get stuck in and experience the richness and diversity of South African society! We specialise in hosting groups of 10 or more people for 2-3 weeks and we put together tailor made trips for your individual group's desires. This opportunity is sponsored by: 2 Way Travel
