Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on March 14, 2009 |
Every night 4-6 volunteers arrive at the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless to ready the dining room, do last minute meal prep, plate food on the serving line and help clean the kitchen. Teams come from all quarters of the city: churches, service organizations, businesses and clubs. The Monday Mob has been serving dinner on the second and fourth Monday of each month since 2004. Their volunteer group includes musicians, artist, filmmakers, government affairs consultants and other sorts. The Mob was the first group to take a regular weekly spot on the serving calendar. To make room for other groups they now serve two Mondays a month. Since then, GSD&M, Microsoft, Young Leaders Society, YAD, Austin PFLAG, Single Volunteers of America, Canine Social Club, Tokyo Electron and many church groups have signed on to serve dinner to our homeless neighbors.
Kitchen volunteers should be at least 18-years of age. This opportunity is sponsored by: Front Steps
