Lower Primary Cafeteria Volunteer (we need up to 10 people)

This volunteer can come in one or more days per week (every Monday, for example) mornings, afternoons, or both.
Morning shift - Carry lunch boxes into the building in the morning.
Afternoon shift – Carry lunch boxes outside to the benches prior to end of school, wipe tables and chairs in cafeteria, and then put chairs on top of tables in preparation for janitorial staff cleaning.
Work-site: LP cafeteria
Time Commitment: 15-30 minutes per shift

Volunteer Application Sequence

  1. Visit our website, www.SAMSchool.org to learn about the Institute and school that we operate.
  2. Join us at an Open Doors Coffee (held every Thursday from 9-10 am upstairs in the mansion at 4100 Red River) or meet individually with the Volunteer Director for an introduction to the Institute. The coffee will be followed by time to ask questions. Please call 467-2820 or 451-7044 to RSVP.
  3. Complete and return a Volunteer Recruitment Application.
  4. Schedule a volunteer orientation with the Volunteer Director by calling 467-2820 or 470-8372 (cell). At the orientation, you and the Volunteer Director will discuss volunteer positions, scheduling, supervision, policies, and procedures.
  5. You will be notified of the status of your volunteer application soon after the interview.
  6. If accepting a volunteer position at the school, register to attend the next regularly scheduled Child’s World Workshop.
  7. Schedule and attend on the job training with your supervisor by calling the Volunteer Director at 467-2820 or 470-8372 (cell).

    Directions:

     The KPM Institute is located in Hyde Park, just north of Hancock Golf Course and is very easy for UT students to get to. From north of central Austin, go south on I35, take exit 236A toward 32nd St., turn right on E 41st St. turn right on Red River St., turn left to enter KPM Institute grounds (there is a gate in the limestone wall around the property). From south of central Austin, take I35 north, turn left at E 38 1/2 St., turn right at Red River St, turn left to enter KPM Institute grounds.
