Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Partners in Reading brings volunteers into the classroom once a week for 45 minutes to help 2nd graders become stronger and more successful readers. Our program follows a volunteer model where:
- the entire class participates with a volunteer at the same time
- the teacher is in the classroom during the session for support
- 3 to 4 children reading at the same level are paired with the same volunteer every week
- a structured curriculum is used by the volunteers and students
- volunteers act as cheerleaders for their students' success!
Every week volunteers and students work on reading, comprehension, and fluency. Our program operates in approximately 16 Title I elementary schools throughout Austin. ** You may still register for the 2009-2010 school year **
Interested volunteers should register at www.austinpartners.org for the opportunity they prefer. Once a Safe Schools background check is approved, the volunteer will be contacted about training. We look forward to your help in the classroom! This opportunity is sponsored by: Austin Partners In Education
