Practiquemos Español (Spanish Practice)

The Austin Public Library is seeking individuals to serve as facilitators for the Spanish Conversation Practiquemos Español - Volunteer Opportunity.

Practiquemos Español , is a Spanish conversation practice program for non-native Spanish speaking adults. The program provides a safe and relaxed environment for individuals to come and practice their Spanish-speaking skills.
Volunteers must be able to serve weekly from
September 2009 through December 2009 and/or January 2010 - May 2010

Volunteer Responsibilities include:
• Work as a team/co-facilitators for each program session.
• Attend Talk Time sessions once a week through Fall 2009 and/or Spring 2010. Sessions last a little over 1 1/2 hours in length.

Faulk Central Library (Saturday) 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
800 Guadalupe Street

Ruiz Branch Library (Schedule to be determined depending on volunteer)
1600 Grove Blvd., 78741

Volunteer Qualifications:
• Mastery of the Spanish language.
• Willingness to listen more than talk.
• Ability to elicit responses from newcomers.
• Patience, creativity, and willingness to use a variety of
methods to promote communication.
• Sensitivity to potential differences in culture.

• Complete an Austin Public Library Adult Volunteer Application
located at www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/libvol.htm Please
review the days and times above, and indicate your location
choice on the Schedule Information portion of the application.

• Accepted volunteers will be required to undergo a criminal
