Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on October 6, 2009

Many of our hospice volunteers were introduced to hospice through the death of a family member and understand firsthand the value of hospice care. Our volunteers consistently report that helping the terminally ill through hospice is not about dying but about living.

Our patients would enjoy various activities including:

  • Visiting
  • Reading
  • Playing card games
  • Writing Letters or Cards
  • Friendly Phone Calls
  • Providing Yard Work
  • Running brief errands
  • Planning a Birthday Celebration or other Special Occasion Celebration
  • Making Special Handcrafted Items:
o Holiday Cards
o Gift Baskets
o Lap Blankets and Shawls
  • Providing Baked Goods

Depending on the individual need, a volunteer may be needed daily, monthly or on an as-needed basis. Whatever time you are willing to give, we have a wish that meets your criteria!

To ensure that all of our volunteers are equipped for the challenge of working with the dying, we require they complete orientation and training sessions, as well as submit to a routine background check.
