Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on September 24, 2009 |
Each year students with Down syndrome encounter regular education teachers who have not had the opportunity to receive training in teaching methods which have been successful for children with Down syndrome. The volunteer will work with DSACT to build the "Parents and Schools in Partnership" program (an award-winning program from Kansas City). Through the program, DSACT will form relationships with special education directors from local school districts (approx. 60), host breakfasts, and plan training opportunities. This is a perfect position for anyone who wants to become a general education or special education teacher or administrator.
Volunteers should possess a belief in the right of every individual to receive a quality education, and a high school diploma or equivalent. This opportunity is sponsored by: Down Syndrome Association Of Central Texas
