Working with the Community Outreach/PR committee, event planners identify and/or organize a 5K race, negotiate and secure discounts, order t-shirts, identify potential race sponsors, and generate fund-raising ideas. Other responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

•Secure discounted or free race registrations for all participants and Running Buddies
•Determining incentives to give the girls at each mile
•Acquire event permits
•Recruit volunteer event staff
•Assist with event set up
•Lead event set up, management and tear down
•Maintain and control equipment and supplies
•Secure race t-shirts and finisher items
•Identify and negotiate discounts
•Identify and secure race sponsorships
•Prepare and follow an event budget
•Other race-related duties
•Attend council meetings as appropriate

•Administrative, phone and communication skills
•Strong supervisory and leadership skills
•Decision-making and problem-solving abilities
•Must be organized and have careful attention to detail
•Should understand the sport of running.
•Previous race coordination experience
•A strong commitment to girls' positive development
•Experience working with non-profits
•Flexible / ability to accommodate to a changing environment
•Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
•You must be available to work some weekends and evenings as needed to prepare for this event
