Technology 101 is a program of Goodwill Industries that provides vocationally-oriented computer classes to people with disabilities. The class assistant will help small groups learn technology-related skills. The assistant will help with the intake process, individual technology sessions and record keeping for the grant requirements. During class sessions the assistant will help students with basic computer skills, writing cover letters and resumes, job searching online, creating a budget sheet, and basic typing skills. Technology 101 courses include: Basic Computer 101, Advanced Computer Skills, Basic Word, Basic Excel, Advanced Word and Typing Skills.
Hours/Scheduling: Position begins in May. Must be available at least one shift a week during the following times: Class time Mon, Wed, Fri from 9-11am Lab time Mon, Wed, Fri from 11:30am-12:30pm Experience working with people with disabilities and assistive technology preferred. Proficiency in any of the following programs helpful: Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Excel 2003, Windows XP, Mavis Beacon, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, Magic, Reach, and any other assistive technology devices. Knowledge of Spanish or ASL communication is a plus.
