Talented and Highly Motivated Volunteer Teachers

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 12, 2009

There are five volunteer teacher positions available 1. A ESL class, 2. A Citizenship class, 3 A Basic Computer Literacy class, 4. A Basic Budgeting class, 5. A Time management class.

These classes are being offered to the parents/guardians of the students in our target area, they are being offered to help facilitate a better rapport and address hinderences between the parents and the local schools in the district. The desire to offer these classes evolved out of conversations with the principals of the schools in our area. The principals felt that if a community organization could come along side and partner with the schools in our area, it would go a long way helping the parents feel better about interacting more with their child's teacher and school district administration.

Volunteers must be 18yrs or older, and have reliable transportation. There will be a two day training provided by the Texas Literacy Coalition, criminal background checks must be submitted and passed. The courses are designed to last for 10 weeks. Volunteers should be able to follow lesson plans.
