We would love to have you at Heart House! We are a small non-profit afterschool program dedicated to providing enriching curriculum and a safe environment for children k - 6th grade. We are seeking talented and energetic people for the following positions:
Program Assistant (15-40 hr/week Internship): Assists the Program Director with tasks and projects related to programming, curriculum, and family involvement. The internship experience is designed based on the talents and skills of the intern and the needs of the Program Director. Some past responsibilities have included creating and distributing family newsletters and fliers, designing and maintaining bulletin boards, researching and scheduling guest visitors, and planning special projects. Availability for volunteer hours are Mon-Fri between 9:30am and 6pm. Lights On! Liaison (3 + hr/week September & October Project Volunteer): Heart House participates in a yearly national event called “Lights On Afterschool” which gives special attention and recognition for afterschool programs. The Lights On Liaison is responsible for aiding in the planning and implementation of our open house event scheduled for the end of October. This project requires flexibility, creativity, and organization. Project work occurs Mon-Fri between 9:30am-2pm onsite or offsite. Technology Tribe Assistant (3 + hr/week semester or school year commitment): This volunteer works closely with the Program Director and Program Leaders to help develop teaching material and to facilitate technology activities. Technology Tribe teaches youth computer skills, blogging, PowerPoint, and webcasting. We are seeking volunteer(s) who have a background in technology to help supplement our activities and to enrich this program. Volunteer hours are Mon-Fri between 9:30-6pm. Tech Tribe Assistant would ideally be available to help facilitate activities Tues-Thurs from 4:30-5:15 as well. Training provided. From IH-35, take the exit # 238B for US-290 E. From 290 E., take the exit for Berkman Drive. Stay on the access road for 290, drive through the light at Berkman and then turn at the 3rd right onto Northeast Drive. Turn right into the second driveway for the Trails at Vintage Creek Apartments (it's right after the second speed bump!) You'll see the Heart House sign at the street entrance. Go toward to the back of the complex, and take your second right. You'll see the large learning center, and you can park in front of the center.
