Volunteers are needed for the 12th Annual Accessibility Internet Rally for Austin (AIR-Austin). Join our team to make this milestone year a success! This unique award-winning event trains web development professionals to make websites accessible for people with disabilities. The Rally, which will be held Oct.24th, 2009, will team these newly trained web professionals with Austin area nonprofit organizations in need of improved internet presence. The result is that access to technology for people with disabilities is greatly improved. Please read more about the event at, http://www.knowbility.org/air-austin. Volunteer opportunities for people with all skill-sets are available. Each position is vital to the success of AIR-Austin. As you perform important tasks you will enjoy the camaraderie of many interesting and caring people. Nonprofits that have benefited from past Rallies include: Badgerdog Literary Publishing, Austin ISD, SCORES - Autism Support Team and the Scottish Rite Learning Center. You will also meet web development teams from organizations such as Dell, Frog Designs and Baring Point. You are guaranteed to have a lot of fun and you may even learn something new! To see full list of past NPO participants visit: http://www.knowbility.org/air-austin/?content=AIR_history
Friendly volunteers are needed to help greet the participants at the Rally. It is important that we let the hard working web professionals and nonprofit participants know they are welcome and appreciated. This is a fun opportunity to be part of an award- winning program that greatly benefits the entire Austin community. Provide moral support for teams of web designers as they create nonprofit web sites that are accessible to people with disabilities.Your job will be to assist with setting up registration table, break room, breakfast and lunch food areas and assist teams in finding their assigned stations on the day of the rally. Some food donations may need to be picked up on this day as well, please indicate if you would be able to handle this aspect of opportunity, although not required to fill position.
