Create a long-term solution to food insecurity, malnutrition, and hunger by instilling clients with nutritional knowledge, food budgeting skills, and cooking experience. Help individuals and families make smart choices at mealtime by becoming a class instructor or assistant for CHOICES, our nutrition education program. CHOICES provides free classes to qualified individuals. Instructors will conduct classes designed specifically for adults, families, and children. Assistants will work with instructors to prepare materials and food samples before class and facilitate various activities during class. We are looking for volunteers who live in Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Coryell, Falls, Fayette, Freestone, Gillespie, Hays, Lampasas, Lee, Limestone, Llano, McLennan, Milam, Mills, San Saba, Travis, Williamson. Each series runs 4-9 weeks, takes place at different locations throughout our 21 county service area, meets once a week, and may be offered during weekday business hours, in the evening, or on the weekend.

Volunteers with nutrition experience or other health professionals, teachers, and retirees in these fields are especially needed. Training will be provided. Use of personal vehicle will be needed. Volunteers will be screened with a background check.
