To operate programs that impact the causes and effects of poverty on families

Description:
Community Action assists families in crisis with food, shelter, rent, gasoline, bus tokens and self-sufficiency classes (i.e. energy saving, tenant/landlord, self-esteem/self-empowerment). Community Action administers the HEAT Program. Community Action is a HUD licensed agency which means that the Mortgage Counseling staff is qualified in reverse mortgages, defaults, predatory lending and first time home buyer classes. Community Action has a program that provides activities/services to at-risk youth. Community Action assists low-income elderly with food, energy/HEAT assistance and tax abatement.

History:
Community Action has been serving Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties for the past 35 years. The agency works to improve the lives and life chances for low-income children and families through direct services and self-sufficiency classes and opportunities.
