Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on September 25, 2009 |
Every year the Provo City Parks Department and volunteers like you make Downtown Provo look great by planting beautiful flowers in the many flowerbeds that line both sides of Center Street. The adopt-a-flowerbed program allows individuals or groups to adopt a flowerbed in the downtown area, they will plant and maintain that bed from May to the end of October. Duties include weeding the flowerbed and maintaining the bed free from litter and debris. Participants will also help plant the flowers and pull them in the fall. The flowers are provided.
Flower planting happens on the 8th and 9th of May at 1:00 pm and 8:00 am respectively. We will be meeting behind the Covey Arts Center at 100S 400 W. If you miss the planting we will still be adopting out flowerbeds throughout the summer so please call. The Adopt-a-Flowerbed program is a great way to serve the community on your time frame. You get to be outside to enjoy the weather, work with flowers and enjoy a beautiful downtown area.
This program asks that volunteers visit their bed at least once every two weeks to weed, sweep and pick up trash. Volunteers will need to bring their own tools for weeding and cleaning projects. This opportunity is sponsored by: Provo Parks and Recreation

Overall Experience

Soccer Goals!!
 |
I was a volunteer coach for a ten and eleven year old girls soccer team. Provo Parks and Recreation was very accomodating. They provided the soccer balls and cones for practice. The soccer referee was always on time and fair. A packet of information including a rule book, schedule, roster, and practice ideas was provided.
The Recreation department was so supportive that it made it easy to coach. I didn't have to worry about the details and so could focus my efforts on the team. I enjoyed getting to know the girls as their coach and friend. I learned a lot about soccer, team sports, and good sportsmanship. I will definitely volunteer with the Provo Parks and Rec in the near future! posted by BrittneyLosee on October 28, 2005 |
