Youth and Families with Promise
RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jun 29, 2005 to Oct 31, 2005

YFP has been introduced in most of Utah's 20 counties, where it is administered by the local Utah State University Extension Agent and YFP Site Coordinator, in collaboration with an advisory board of local community leaders and parents.

YFP not only matches a youth with a young adult mentor, but also with an older person or couple who can serve as grandmentors to the youth and to the entire family. While YFP offers the opportunity for just hanging out and being friends, it also channels the interests of the mentor and youth into participation in the community. Additionally, monthly 'Family Night Out' activities are provided so the entire family can participate together in fun, recreational experiences followed by a short "debriefing" of their experience together.
