Profile: V. E. Carter Development Group Inc, (Carter) is a private 501(c) non profit organization, founded 1971. Presently Located at 2001 West Vliet Street, V.E. Carter has a child care education division and a social service division. V.E. Carter serves teens and young parents between the ages of 13 40. 98% of this population is aged between 16 and 25 years.

Carter’s childcare/education division serves over 400 children annually, from infancy to 5th grade. Carter School of Excellence uses the Success For All Reading Program everyday for 1st grade to 5th grade students. Carter School of Excellence has one of the highest elementary school math scores in Milwaukee.

The Social Services Department, which has a home visitation program was started in 1991. The Healthy Relationship & Marriage Resource Center is a division of this department. This Resource Center coordinates activities for 15 educators in South Eastern Wisconsin who provide healthy relationship education aimed at educating participants on the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships. The Child Care and Pre-natal Coordination division provides case management, tutoring, mentoring, parenting, and nutrition education as well as health Coordination.
Carter is a member of the following professional associations: (1) Wisconsin Association of Family and Children Serving Agencies (2) Child Abuse Prevention Network, (3) National Black Child Development Institute (4) Wisconsin Association Concerned with School-age Parents.
