LaPorte Meals on Wheels goal is to keep clients in their own homes relatively independent and to provide nutritious meals to our clients. In 2008 we delivered more than 35,000 meals. The La Porte Hospital prepares the meals according to the client's diet. The food is then picked up at the La Porte Hospital between 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.. It takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to deliver a route. We have routes in the city of La Porte, Rolling Prairie, Kingsford Heights, Union Mills, Hanna, Springville, Mill Creek, Fish Lake and Union Mills.

History:
On December 12, 1974, thirteen concerned citizens representing various community organizations in LaPOrte met to discuss the Meals on Wheels program. The meals are prepared according to our clients diet and are prepared by LaPorte Hospital. We take an application over the telephone and send a referral form to a physician for the correct diet.
