A-SPAN has several dates available in June and July when volunteers are needed for the preparation of bagged meals for homeless people.

The Homeless Bagged Meals Program is operated entirely by the generous contributions of the time and resources of volunteers.
Volunteers who prepare meals are responsible for supplying the necessary groceries, preparing the bagged meals, and dropping the meals off at Oakland Park near the Virginia Square Metro at 6:00 pm.  From there, other volunteers are scheduled to serve the meals at each of the outdoor locations where homeless people are fed by A-SPAN.

The meals include: 2 Sandwiches, 1 salty snack, 1 sweet snack, 1 fruit, and 1 beverage. During the summer months we distribute between 60 and 70 meals daily.

Below I have listed dates for which we are seeking volunteers to prepare bagged meals. If you are available for any of these dates, please contact me and I will add you to the schedule and clarify all the details including directions and etc.

This volunteer opportunity is great for families, workplace groups, boy or girl scout troops, social outreach groups affiliated with faith organizations, and schools.
