Bring your family to volunteer to control invasive non-native plants that threaten the native species and beauty along the Appalachian Trail. Work will be in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Front Royal and Winchester, VA.
Three Saturdays are planned: July 12, July 19, and July 26. People should gather along the Trail at 10:00 AM. Contact us for directions to the day's work site. Work will include pulling/uprooting and cutting nonnative plants and shrubs. Volunteers are welcome to work two-to-four hours. Enjoy a hike on the world famous trail afterward!
Volunteers will be provided training at 10:00 AM. They will learn what plants need control and which ones need to be protected. A safety briefing will also be provided.
Come dressed in long pants. Capri pants for women are not advised.
