Qualifications
Openness to learning, including simple computer tasks.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to speak clearly and be easily understood over the telephone.

Must be at least 21 years old before staffing the hotline.

Commitment
Must be willing to meet the challenge by committing to 150 hours of service (with one 3-hour shift per week for one year, or two shifts per week for 6 months) after training. Attend regularly scheduled 3 hour shifts each week and arrange substitutes when absent.

Training
Satisfactorily complete 50 hours of training in active listening, hotline procedures and computer skills. Sessions are held in evening and weekend hours (see www.crisislink.org for exact training schedules). Interviews will be held about a month before training begins. Attend one refresher training and one in-service training during each year of service.
