On Sunday, April 5, AFAC is dismantling the Canstruction exhibit set up by teams of architectural firms at Ballston Commons; and, moving close to 60,000 pounds of canned food to the warehouse. AFAC needs volunteers for a myriad of jobs that will undertake the moving of thousands of canned goods. Without the help of volunteers it would be an impossible task! Please join us in this project. You will be able to help a vulnerable population of families with children, senior citizens and individuals who have recently lost their jobs.
All volunteers for this event need to have physical strength to lift crates full of canned goods. Teenagers (14+) will be accepted for this volunteer job with permissions of their parents and able to meet the same requirements. We need the volunteers for the following times and tasks:
At Ballston Commons (4238 Wilson Blvd
Arlington, VA 22203 or intersection of Glebe Road and Wilson Blvd):
7:00 – 8:30 am. Volunteers are needed to deliver crates to building sites at Ballston Mall. (15 volunteers)
8:30-12:00 noon: Volunteers are needed to help disassemble the Canstruction structures at Ballston. (20 volunteers still needed)
At the warehouse (2708 S. Nelson Street- Arlington, VA 22206):
10 am-1 pm: Volunteers needed at AFAC, to help unload crated food from trucks (10 volunteers still needed)
