Brain Tumor Foundation For Children
The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children mission is to provide financial assistance, social support, and information for families of children with brain and spinal cord tumors; fund research projects that improve treatment options and search for a cure; and raise public awareness of the disease and advocate on behalf of children who are affected.
Description:
The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children is run by a 12-member volunteer Board of Directors and a small staff, all of who are dedicated to making a difference. Recent major accomplishments include growing the Foundation's financial assistance program (Butterfly Fund) from serving Georgia families only in 2000 to serving families of children treated in eight southeastern states, making a major impact on the pediatric brain tumor community. BTFC has assisted countless children and families and funded many research projects since 1983 and we remain committed to helping affected children and families until such time that a cure is found.
History:
Established in 1983 in Atlanta, GA, the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children (BTFC) was the first nonprofit organization in the United States to focus specifically on the issue of brain tumors in children.
