Children's PEACE Center
Our mission is to "Encourage and equip children of all ages to develop peacemaking skills that enrich their lives and those around them."
Our vision is to provide a fun place for children to learn, practice and experiment while they build self-esteem, improve character and develop life skills to assist them in dealing with violence, pressures and stress of daily living, while at the same time providing a resource center for caregivers and teachers.
Description:
The Children's PEACE Center is a special kind of museum for children of all ages to learn peacemaking skills. Utilizing hands-on, interactive exhibits and learning centers; such as puppets, computers, puzzles, games, crafts, dramas, storytelling, workshops, Field Trips, camps, and special discovery classes; we provide Character Education for Elementary children and their families to learn and practice teamwork, conflict resolution, anger management, self-discipline, communication skills, respect and understanding of cultural diversity, stewardship of the environment and all creation. All programs are aligned with Georgia Dept of Education Performance Standards for Character Education, and meet most other GPS.
History:
We started our traveling program, a "Museum without walls", in 1996. We've provided our In-House Field Trips to schools, our camps to various organizations and churches from Florida to Canada. We are currently planning to build a "permanent" children's peace museum in the Metro Atlanta area to provide our services locally. We incorporated and received our non-profit 501c3 status in 2003. We are currently looking for property to set up the museum. We continue to set up our traveling program at various sites to provide services to the local communities.
