St. Vincent de Paul Society - Atlanta
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service, spiritual, material and financial to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
Description:
The St. Vincent de Paul Society, through its member groups (called "conferences"), serves those in need at the local level. Over 60 such groups operate throughout North Georgia. The SVDP Conference Support Center, located in Chamblee, houses an adult learning center, provides temporary help such as financial assistance, a food pantry, a Thrift Store to aid people in crisis, and operates a car donation program as well as local services in one of several area SVDP Conferences and Thrift Stores.
History:
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international organization. The Atlanta Council has served the North Georgia area since 1903.
