Volunteers are needed for our 20th Annual Community Christmas Dinner and Toy Giveaway for children ages six months to 12 years old. This event will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Parklane Elementary School from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parklane Elementary is located at 2809 Blount Street, East Point, GA 30344.
Areas where volunteer services are needed for hosts and hostesses, servers, food handlers, escorts, decorators for activity area, cleanup people and Santa’s helpers.
Approximately 125 families for an estimated 400 needy children will attend this wonderful event. To witness the expressions of joy and delight on the faces of the participating children when they exit Santa’s Closet, is a grand reward in itself; and is very heart-warming for our volunteers.
Parents are asked to restrict ages for the Santa’s Closet for children age two and under. Additionally, a parent or other responsible adult must accompany them. We believe at NUCUP that children three years old and older know what they want for Christmas. We give these children the opportunity to pick the age-appropriate toys of their choice; which brings so much joy to the children. NUCUP is all about lifting the spirits of children and families, and bringing joy and hope to children through this annual community event.
Volunteers can consist of families, individuals age eighteen and older, businesses, corporations, civic groups, social clubs, fraternities, and churches. There will be an orientation at Parklane Elementary School from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, December 16, 2008  This opportunity is sponsored by: National Urban Coalition For Unity And Peace, Inc.
