Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum
Logo

Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum is a premier national historic site that fosters an appreciation for the unique heritage of the carousel, band organ and amusement device industries on the Niagara Frontier for people of all ages, so that it may be preserved, enjoyed and shared with future generations.

Description:
Through educational, cultural and recreational programming, visitors will experience the places, people, stories and artifacts associated with the production of carousels, band organs and amusement devices on the Niagara Frontier.

Museum visitors take a self-guided tour of the museum and can ride on the 1916 antique carousel. There is a kiddie carousel for our younger visitors. We have a Children's Gallery with interactive exhibits.

We have wood carving demonstrations and classes. Carrousel Chats are presented each first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM.

Among many other special family days, there is a Victorian Tea, Teddy Bear picnic, a Halloween party (Spooktacular) and Lunch With Santa in November/December.

June 6 is our ninth Renaissance Festival.

History:
The Museum occupies the old Allan Herschell Company factory complex listed on both the New York State Register of Historic Sites and the National Register of Historic Places. It is a series of seven connected buildings which once housed all of the manufacturing components of the factory. The Herschell Company produced its first ride in this factory complex in 1916 and closed in 1959.
