Literacy Empowerment Action Plan of WNY, Inc. provides leadership in literacy which increases the numer of people engaged in negotiating positive changes of the conditions in their lives. Our organization emphasizes literacy as a vehicle to transformational and autonomous thinking. LEAP's goal are to: **Establish a stable funding base that will support the organizations present activities as well as its pojected growth. **Meet the identified literacy needs and interests of children in the community. **Provide innovative, change-oriented programs and services that focus on closing literacy and scoial gaps. **Become a leader in literacy in Western new York LEAP also needs more volunteers to assist with fundraising events, marketing campaigns, strategic planning and accounting.
History:
LEAP is a literacy based nonprofit organization founded and established in January 2007. Since its inception, LEAP has grown by ten folds, primarily because of the demand for quality literacy programs and services from the community. LEAP is the first comprehensive literacy center in WNY that offers a full spectrum of literacy programs and services. Some of the services provided include diagnostic assessments, remedial reading, academic tutoring, adult literacy, enrichment programs and professional development workshops. LEAP's staff is highly qualified and hold over 60 years of combined literacy experience.
