Buffalo ReUse

Buffalo ReUse is Western New York's first and only GREEN DEMOLITION company. Instead of demolishing buildings we deconstruct them so we can salvage much of the building materials. We use deconstruction as an avenue for job training for young adults and a source of used building materials for the community. We believe in environmental stewardship and neighborhood revitalization. We operate a used building materials store, The ReSource, on Northampton Ave, and the revenue from sales of inventory fund our community programs and our training program.

Description:
Our vision enables us to demolish abandoned housing stock and divert half of the material away from the landfill through recycling and reclamation of used building materials like tubs, flooring, stone, lumber and more. Our community programs include transforming vacant lots into green space (pocket parks and gardens), free workshops on gardening and home repair, and a tool lending library. Our current greenspace projects involve developing a Children's Vinery, working on our Patchwork Garden, establishing a Strawberry Field, and creating an earth-oven. Our DIY workshops range from home repairs to garden improvement to arts and crafts and jam making!
We welcome volunteers everyday, to work in the gardens or in the store or in the office, depending on their interests and skills. For more information, you can contact volunteer@buffaloreuse.org.

History:
We started paperwork in 2006, began deconstructing houses using a volunteer force in 2007. We became incorporated in 2008. So far, we have deconstructed over 25 structures and have 10 employees. Our volunteers are the backbone of our efforts.
