Back to Basics Outreach Ministries, Inc. is an organization dedicated to providing services that will improve the quality of life for the residents of the city of Buffalo and Erie County. These services address problems associated with prisoner re-entry and community re-integration. Our mission has always been to develop strategies and programs to bring together staff, mentors, and volunteers to positively impact formerly incarcerated individuals and their families, thereby lowering the rate of recidivism and improving the overall condition of the communities in which they reside.

Description:
As one of the most progressive and leading agencies in the field of prisoner re-entry in the Greater Buffalo area, we are committed to implementing effective solutions to assist men and women immediately upon their release and continue with highly individualized follow up services that cater to the client’s ever changing needs. Our primary focus is to provide each individual with the necessary resources that will help him/her address the barriers to employment, housing, education, substance abuse rehabilitation, family re-unification, and spiritual growth required for successful reentry.

History:
Since our inception in 1994, Back to Basics has moved from an office in the basement of a church serving about 20 individuals a week to its current location at 906 Broadway, currently serving 150 individuals a week, housing 30 homeless individuals in our Supportive Living Program and feeding over 125 families weekly. Additionally, our organization has found jobs for over 250 men, women and youth that have come through our doors. Back to Basics Outreach Ministries has served more than 9,000 people over the past 14 years.
