The mission of Meals on Wheels for WNY, Inc., is to deliver daily nutritious meals and provide related support services to those members of our community who have limited ability to shop or prepare meals for themselves. The purpose of our mission is to enable our participants to maintain the highest level of independence, while remaining in their homes.

Description:
Our volunteers deliver two nutritious meals, five days a week, to seniors and disabled individuals. It takes approximately 60 minutes - one day a week - at lunchtime. There is no special training required, you can drive or serve (car not necessary to serve), and you can assist meal recipients in your own neighborhood. You can volunteer once a week or even once a month.

History:
Since 1969, Meals on Wheels for WNY, Inc., a private,not-for-profit agency, has provided home delivered meals to homebound, frail elderly or disabled persons. We began with 63 volunteers serving 27 participants Monday thru Friday.

Today, we are the largest volunteer organization in the area (an active force of 2,000 volunteers), and we serve about 3,400 hot and cold meals daily, and about 865,000 on an annual basis.
