Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Buffalo, Inc. provides confidential, professional advice to individuals and families, striving to improve their personal financial situation. As we are providers of local, face-to-face counseling services, we offer the most referred credit counseling in Western New York.

Over 125,000 Western New York families have benefited from our personal counseling concerning their financial problems or from our educational activities.

Services include, but are not limited to financial counseling, one-on-one budgeting sessions, credit report reviews, pre-file bankruptcy counseling and pre-discharge debtor education, reverse mortgage counseling and free financial education workshops offered once a month at the main West Seneca location.

History:
The Agency was founded in 1965. Prior to that date there was nowhere people could go to solve a severe debt problem without resorting to Bankruptcy. The Agency was organized to fulfill that need by offering counseling to individuals on budgeting and credit problems as well as by establishing educational preventative programs.

In 1964, a group of business and community leaders met to organize the Agency. On December 8, 1965, the Agency opened its doors in office space donated by Marine Midland Bank at the Rand Building in downtown Buffalo, New York. The Agency is now headquartered in Amherst, NY and operates a branch office in downtown Buffalo, NY.

The Agency is a "not for profit" organization and has a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from a variety of segments of the community. It has obtained a tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service; approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees to offer mandated bankruptcy counseling; is licensed by the New York Banking Department; and most importantly is an affiliate of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.

Since 1965, thousands of Western New York families have benefited from our personal counseling concerning their financial problems or from our educational activities. The Agency takes pride in its accomplishments and especially in its opportunity to affect the lives of the people of Western New York.
